Custom Templates and Themes
- Hosting partners and Web developers can now create their own templates and themes. Custom templates can contain any type of HTML tags, JavaScript, or other Web-presentation information. Information from a store's page and product database can be included anywhere on the page with special ShopSite custom tags. Custom themes can be created from custom templates, so that a merchant can apply a custom template and color scheme to an entire store with a single selection.
Custom templates and themes can be created with almost any Web authoring tool. They are not created through the merchant interface, but they are applied to a store by selecting them from the list of available templates in the merchant interface.
Customizable More Information Pages
- Customizable More Information Pages (product details) can now have the same colors, header and footer, and background image as the rest of a store. There is a new More Info Page screen in the Preferences section of ShopSite from which you can set page colors, etc.
Database Improvements
- All databases now have pending updates written to a shadow file. If a crash occurs during an update, the next time the database is opened, the shadow file's changes are first applied.
- Locking has been modified so that if a browser crashes with a lock on a database or file, the lock will be removed automatically.
Image Loading Improvements
- In previous releases, all ShopSite buttons and gif images displayed to merchants were served up by a CGI program. This is no longer a requirement. During installation, you can specify a separate shopsite-images directory under the Web server's html (htdocs) directory.
Y2K Code Scanning
- ShopSite 4.1 was Y2K tested, and version 4.2 has also been scanned for any Y2K issues (none were found).
Enhancements Specific to ShopSite SC
- Improved layout of the HTML receipt
- Support for ClickPay credit card processing on Sparc and Linux platforms
- Support for Authorize.Net v2.5 on Sparc and Linux platforms
- Order system performance improvements for shoppers. Certain reporting calculations have been moved from the ordering system to the merchant interface when the merchant views or downloads orders. Also, for ShopSite Pro, the Associate e-mail order notification and related processing is now done when the merchant views orders, instead of when the order is finalized by the customer.
- FreeBSD 3.x is now a supported platform.

- Locale and code set are now passed in digital offers
