Prior to installing the ShopSite software, your server must meet the following requirements:

• Operating systems:
  • BSDI (FreeBSD 2.x OS)
  • FreeBSD 3.x or greater
  • Irix 5.3 or greater
  • Linux 2.0.1 or greater (read the special instructions for Cobat Raq)
  • Solaris/SPARC 2.5.1 or greater
  • Solaris/Intel 2.6 or greater
  • Windows NT Server
  • Windows 2000 Server

• Web Servers:
  Must be NCSA-compatible and have SSL support
  • UNIX:
    Apache
    Stronghold
    Netscape FastTrack or Enterprise version 3.6 or higher
    Sun Web Server

  • Windows NT:
    Microsoft Internet Information Server version 4 or higher

  Note: ShopSite only sets up Apache-style passwords, using .htaccess files. If you are using a Netscape server, you can configure it to use .htaccess files by following the instructions at the Netscape site.

• Other Software:
  • PERL 5.003 or greater
  • Sendmail (on UNIX systems)
  • NTFS file system (on Windows NT and Windows 2000 systems)

• Hardware:
  • UNIX
    • 16 MB System RAM (but recommend at least 32 MB)
    • 59 MB free hard drive space to install. After installing a store and removing the install tar files, ShopSite may take up to 40 MB, depending on the operating system.
  • Window NT
    • 200MHz Pentium or greater
    • 64MB System RAM
    • 20 MB free hard drive space for installation program and program files. Each store requires less than 1 MB.
