Secure, real-time credit card handling with CyberCash is made easy with ShopSite Pro and ShopSite Manager.
Overview
ShopSite’s support for CyberCash, via their CashRegister 3 Service, provides a secure, automated environment for online sellers to accept credit card payments and their customers to make quick and easy purchase decisions. The CyberCash software is already installed in ShopSite; sellers do not need to download any additional software.
Click here to register for CyberCash, and use the information below to add CyberCash payment functionality to your ShopSite storefront.
Notes
It is highly recommended that your CyberCash account and your merchant bank account be set up for "Auth/PostAuth" processing. This means that funds are authorized when a customer makes a purchase, and captured (transferred to your merchant account) when you use the ShopSite Bill Order function after shipping the products. The other type of processing, "Auth/Capture," transfers funds as soon as the customer clicks the Submit this Order button on the order form. Occasionally a customer will click that button two or three times for various reasons, and it is possible that the customer would be charged two or three times for the order.
If your store uses a currency other than US Dollars or Canadian Dollars, you must contact CyberCash to make special arrangements.
ShopSite Setup
After you have registered with CyberCash and received your merchant information, follow these steps to configure your store to use CyberCash for payment processing:
- Go to the Commerce Setup screen in ShopSite and click the Payment button.
- In the Credit Card Processing section of the screen, click the CyberCash radio button.
- Click the Configure Processor button, which brings you to a screen containing the fields listed below. Fill in the fields with the information for your store, or use the default values to configure a test account.
- Click the Save Changes button after you have entered your information.
Transaction Flow
When a customer places an order after you have configured ShopSite to use CyberCash, ShopSite sends the credit card information to the CyberCash server. The server checks to see if the card is authorized to charge the amount indicated, and sends back information -- no actual charges are executed. If the card is authorized, ShopSite stores the transaction information (which varies with the payment processor type -- FirstUSA, First Data, VisaNet, etc.) in the orders data base under Ordering Instructions. The information is returned in two lines and is stored with the herald CyberCash Order ID:
If there is an error in the transaction, ShopSite displays an error screen to the customer and invites the customer to correct the errors (if possible) or to notify the seller.
Viewing
You can view orders just as before, except that CyberCash data is stored in the Ordering Instructions field of the orders database and is visible when viewing orders.
Billing
Once you have configured CyberCash as your payment processor and have received new orders, you will see a new Bill Order button on the Orders screen. Selecting one or more credit card orders and clicking this button causes a payment request for those orders to be sent to the CyberCash server.
If the request succeeds, the information returned by the server is appended to the earlier information in the Ordering Instructions field. This time the herald will be followed by the word *BILLED*.
If an error occurs, it will be displayed after all selected orders to be billed have been processed. The exact information returned on an error depends in part on the error and in part on the payment processor type (FirstUSA, First Data, VisaNet, etc.).
Testing
Some testing is possible without having an account set up with CyberCash.
- Go to the CyberCash Settings screen and click the Default button. This will set a merchant ID and password that allows testing the software and the connection with the CyberCash server.
- Go to your store and purchase a product using a credit card.
- After you see the screen receipt from ShopSite, go to the Orders section of ShopSite and select the order you just made, then click Show Order.
- You should see the line:
CyberCash Order ID:342183747466272172
under Ordering Instructions.
- Click OK to return to the Orders menu.
Note the test account does not allow you to use the Bill Orders feature.
