Customizing the Shopping Cart
and Order Form Ads

By default, ShopSite Lite displays this ad at the top and bottom of the shopping cart and order form screens that customers see. (The order form is the page that appears when a customer clicks Finalize this Order on the Shopping Cart page.) When a customer clicks on the ad, a new browser window opens and it displays a page from the Open Market Web site which presents a ShopSite overview.

You can replace this ad with your own image and text, and you can define a destination URL on your own server that describes the benefits of having a ShopSite Lite store with your hosting service. You can use different ads and destinations for the top and bottom images on each screen.

To change the order form ad and its destination:
  1. Create the graphic images to be used as the ads at the top and bottom of the shopping cart and order form screens. You can use different images or the same image for all locations, and you can use animated GIFs to attract more attention.
  2.

  3. Create the HTML pages that customers will see when they click on the ads. These pages should describe the benefits of having a ShopSite Lite store with your hosting service. If you want to use the same destination page for all of the ads, only create one HTML page.
  4.

  5. Place the images and pages on your server and note the URLs.
  6.

  7. Use an editor to open the global.aa file in the SHOPSITE_DIRECTORY to add the following lines:

    lite_cart_image_top: <img src="URL">
    lite_cart_link_top: URL
    lite_cart_image_bottom: <img src="URL">
    lite_cart_link_bottom: URL

    lite_checkout_image_top: <img src="URL">
    lite_checkout_link_top: URL
    lite_checkout_image_bottom: <img src="URL">
    lite_checkout_link_bottom: URL

Note that you can place other HTML tags around the tags for the images, such as <hr> or <center>.

Also note that if you have Use SSL security in Shopping Cart checked in the Preferences > Hosting Service screen, you should use a secure URL for the <img src> values, otherwise customers will receive warning messages from their browsers.

  8.

  9. Save and close the global.aa file.
