Customizing the Upsell Ad in ShopSite Lite
By default, ShopSite Lite displays this ad in a frame at the bottom of every screen that merchants see while working on their stores.
ShopSite also shows merchants a "click here" sentence when they try to exceed the limits on the number of pages and products in a Lite store.
You can replace the ad with your own image and text, and you can define a destination URL on your own server that describes the benefits of upgrading to a ShopSite Pro or ShopSite Manager store. You can also define destinations for the "click here" links.
To change the upsell ad and its destination:
- Create an HTML page that will be the ad that appears at the bottom of the merchant screens.
- The page should entice merchants to upgrade by mentioning the features of ShopSite Pro and ShopSite Manager, such as unlimited pages and products, online credit card processing, and a product search feature (Pro only).
- The page should contain a link to the upgrade page (see step 2) or information to allow merchants to contact the ISP to upgrade their stores.
- Make sure the the page does not use much vertical space, as it will appear in the frame at the bottom of the ShopSite screens.
- Optionally create an HTML page that merchants will see when they click on the ad. The page should describe in more detail the benefits of ShopSite Pro and ShopSite Manager over ShopSite Lite, such as unlimited pages and products, online credit card processing, and a product search feature (Pro only).
- Place the pages on your server and note the URL.
- Use an editor to open the global.aa file in the SHOPSITE_DIRECTORY and add the following line:
lite_shopsite_frame: URL of page from step 1
- Save and close the global.aa file.
To change destinations of the "click here" links:
- If you created an upgrade page in step 2, above, you can easily use that page as the destination of the "click here" upgrade links.
If you don't want to use the page that you created for the upsell add, Create an HTML page that merchants will see when they click on the links. This page should describe the benefits of ShopSite Pro and ShopSite Manager over ShopSite Lite, such as unlimited pages and products, online credit card processing, and a product search feature (Pro only).
- Place the page on your server and note the URL.
- Use an editor to open the global.aa file in the SHOPSITE_DIRECTORY and add the following lines:
lite_pages_link: URL of page from step 1
lite_products_link: URL of page from step 1
- Save and close the global.aa file.
