Upgrading to ShopSite SC 5.0.x
for Windows 2000/NT Servers
Upgrading ShopSite will affect all stores that share the same ShopSite Back Office folder.
ShopSite 5.0 uses a completely new installation procedure, and now puts store information in the Windows registry. If you are currently running a previous version of ShopSite, the ShopSite 5 setup program will not find an entry in the registry. In this case, the first step in performing an upgrade is to have the setup program create a registry entry for the existing installation.
- Shut down the web server before running the installation program. IIS will complain if someone is even accessing your graphics during the upgrade.
- Run the ShopSite Setup program by double-clicking setup.exe.
- On the ShopSite Installation screen, click the Add button to locate the existing installation.
- On the Add ShopSite Install screen, select "Register an existing ShopSite installation" and click Next.
- On the ShopSite Location screen, type in the path or use the Browse button to point to the Back Office folder of the existing installation. Note that you do not need to enter the entire path; the Setup program will search down from the folder name that you enter.
Prior to ShopSite 5, each ShopSite installation did not have a unique name. Type in a name for this installation in the field provided. If this installation is for only one store, you may want to use a name that reflects that.
- The ShopSite Folders and URLs screen shows you the settings that the setup program found for the existing installation. If this is not the installation that you want to upgrade, click the Back button and make changes. Otherwise, click Next.
- On the Web Site screen, select the site that is hosting this ShopSite installation. Type in the path or use the Browse button to locate the home directory of the Web site. Click Finish to add the installation to the Windows registry.
- The existing installation should now be listed on the ShopSite Installation screen. Click Next.
- On the Change/Remove Options screen, select Upgrade to version 5.0.1 and then click Next.
- If you already shut down the Web site, click Next to proceed. If not. click the IIS Manager button and shut down the site.
- Click Next on the Start Copying Files screen to begin the upgrade.
- When the upgrade is finished, the ShopSite Setup Complete screen gives you several options:
- Check the option box to view the setup log when you exit the setup program. This will open your browser and display all of the settings used during the installation, which can be useful for your server records.
- Check the option box to launch IIS Manager so that you can restart the Web server.
- Click Finish to exit the setup program.
After the upgrade completes, all stores in the installation will be at version 5.0.
