ShopSite Manager is an easy to use Internet commerce package. It allows a merchant, even someone with very little Internet experience, to build and maintain a Web site for selling products. ShopSite Manager resides on an Internet server but can be accessed through a standard Web browser from any Personal Computer. We call this browser-based interface the back office. It's where you build and make changes to your site and check your orders and site statistics.

Chances are, you've already had a glimpse at the back office. It may seem like a lot of buttons, but it does not take very long to learn how everything works. The best way to learn to use ShopSite software is to read through the Quickstart Guide, which will walk you through setting up a new store. You may want to open up two browser windows, one with the Quickstart Guide and one with your back office, so you can follow along.

On any page in the back office, if you want more information about the features on that page, click on the question mark icon in the top right corner of the window. It will launch you in to a page in the help section specific to that page.

After studying the Quickstart guide, your most useful ShopSite resource will probably be the searchable help archive. Located on the main help page, it allows you to use natural language to ask questions to the help database. For example, if you type in "How do I submit my site to search engines?" it will give you three documents detailing not only how to submit your site to search engines, but how to promote your site overall. If you prefer a more linear approach, browse our Help Section Table of Contents.

Check with the search first with all your questions. You can take the search function for a test drive right here. Try typing in a question you have.

Remember that every document in the help section is linked to other documents via hypertext links. If there are terms that you don't understand, there may be a link to another document explaining that term. An exploration of the help site in this manner should bring you to a complete understanding of how the ShopSite software works. Moreover, the help section contains numerous documents about Web design, marketing, and the Internet in general.

If after looking online for the answer to a question, you don't find what you need, contact the person who sold you the software for technical support. Please also send us some e-mail detailing what you were looking for, so I can improve the help resources. Enjoy building your store!

Where to go next? Read the Quickstart Guide, read the ShopSite FAQ, read the ShopSite guide to HTML, read about promoting your Web site, read about design and layout, read about making graphics.
