At a mere 12 oz. the TerraFix 406 GPS I PLB easily stores in backpacks, waist packs or a pocket. Also comes standard with a sturdy rubber holster to attach the PLB to backpack webbing, PFDs, belts or climbing harnesses. All ACR PLBs send a personalized signal to satellites in orbit telling Search & Rescue; who you are, where you are, and that you are in a life-threatening emergency. The TerraFix 406 GPS I PLB patented electronics package features a GPS optical interface that allows you to hook up your handheld GPS to the PLB. The PLB will download your GPS coordinates and automatically include them in the emergency transmission to the satellites. All ACR PLBs are made to exceed the rigorous testing standards of COSPAS-SARSAT, FCC, NOAA, U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Air Force Rescue Coordination Center for durability, waterproof, floatation, high visibility and extreme operating temperatures at a minimum of 24 hours at -20C (longer at warmer ambient temperatures).
